This is a preparatory drawing for the figure of Prudence in the lower-left part of the fresco The Orders of the Spanish Monarchy in the King’s Bedroom, now called the Tapestry Room and located in the Royal Palace in Madrid. The Museo del Prado keeps a chiaroscuro sketch (P002481) and several related preparatory drawings.
This drawing is a study of the head intended for a female figure. The figure is depicted with a two-faced head in left and right profile, with an elaborate hairstyle.
