Mirror framed by eagle heads
XVII century.Not on display
A large two-headed eagle embraces the frame of a mirror with its legs and outspread wings. Mention should also be made of the crown that seems to trap the two heads, collar-like, and the figurehead at the top that conceals the supports. This type of mirror, evidently heraldic, is inspired by the coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs held by the eagle of St John, which enjoyed extraordinary popularity in the Seventeenth Century, associated with the image of the Habsburg dynasty and its government(Text drawn from exp. Los Objetos Hablan, Sevilla, 2016).
