The Adoration of the Shepherds, with the Three Kings Glimpsed in the Distance
First half of the XVI century. Not on display
The style indicates an artist working in the following of Polidoro da Caravaggio: compare the composition with that of Polidoro´s Adoration of the Shepherds in the Museo Regionale, Messina (Leone de Castris, 2001, p. 319). The elongation of the figures and their exaggerated eccentricities of movement also suggest the work of his Spanish follower Pedro Machuca (c.1490-1550).
