Spanish painting from The Frick Collection, one of the world’s great art collections, will be on display at the Museo Nacional del Prado next spring. A group of remarkable works by Velázquez, El Greco, Murillo and Goya will be making a rare trip to Spain thanks to the support of the Comunidad de Madrid.

The majority of these paintings were acquired by Henry Clay Frick, the industrialist, philanthropist, and museum founder whose Collection today  is considered one of New York’s cultural treasures.

The Frick mansión, where these works are normally housed is currently undergoing renovation, and the museum is showing its collection at a nearby location, Frick Madison. These circumstances have prompted the special agreement to temporarily loan paintings to the Prado. With the exception of two works, these paintings have not been seen in Spain since they originally left the country.

The exhibition opens next March and will remain on display for 4 months.
